The best ski resorts in Greece

Parnassus

Parnassus is one of the most impressive and beautiful mountains in Greece covered by countless fir trees. The visitor can experience breath-taking views of the Gulf of Corinth until the Gulf of Evia. The combination of the north-facing slopes and the altitudes normally ensures skiing well into April. The mountain is full of dense vegetation and rare natural beauty that attracts visitors all year round. The resort is open from December to early May, at an altitude of 1.600 to 2.250 meters at the locations Cellars and Fterolakka, Parnassus Ski Centre, the largest and finest organized ski centre of our country. The Centre has 19 slopes, 7 ski trails, 10 paths and three mini beginner slopes all total length of about 36 km. The ski descent length of 50 m to 4 km beginners, advanced skiers and snowboarders. For the adventure lovers, there are 12 off-slopes “black” trails with deep snow for huge amounts of adrenaline. The centre is distinguished for its high levels of safety in plant, machinery and overall smooth operation.

The Greek ski resort of Parnassus offers direct access to 19 individual ski slopes which are served by 14 ski lifts. The ski resort itself is above 1500m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. When skiing above 2000 metres, the snow cover is generally reliable.

Seli

Seli is the oldest ski resort in Greece which opened in 1934 at an altitude of 1530m. It is very popular among the Greek families. In the area work five ski schools and fully-equipped facilities in the nearest towns of Veria and Naousa. The National Ski Centre Seli combines all the conditions which are necessary for the establishment of a standard ski resort. The National Ski Centre of Seli has many contemporaries lifts for easy and quick service of the skiers, great variety of athletics tracks for tourist and sports skiing, playgrounds, street circuit strength with possibility of international matches where the simultaneous and comfortable sports thousands of skiers on a daily basis. Also, it has paths for mountaineering. Straddles the international route E4. The excellent snow conditions, the free horizon, the stunning sunshine, and the limited moisture offers to the visitors health, pleasure and wellness.

The ski resort of Seli offers direct access to 12 individual ski slopes which are served by 8 ski lifts. Seli offers good skiing, particularly, for both expert and beginner skiers. The resort also offers ideal slopes for snowboarding.

Mountain Voras- Kaimaktsalan

The Voras (or Kaimakatsalan) is the third highest mountain in Greece, located in the northern part of the prefecture of Pella to the limits with the prefecture of Florina. Continues across the border on the side of FYROM. Its highest peak is Kaimatsalan or Kaimaki on 2.524 meters. The entire mountain presents a wide variety of habitats, with large areas of contiguous mixed forests (oak, beech, chestnut, fir, and pine), deep valleys, canyons and prairies. This results in the presence of important flora, with more than 150 groups of plants and animals. Characteristic of the area are the remnants of the forest of pines (Pinus peuce), as of oak (Quercus trojana). From the western slopes of Voras, starts the river Moglenitsa which before the drainage work carried out on the plain Giannitsà was part of Loudias.

The ski resort of Mountain Voras- Kaimaktsalan offers direct access to 10 individual ski slopes which are served by 7 ski lifts.

The ski resort itself is above 1500m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With skiing above 2000 metres, snow cover is generally reliable.

Kalavryta

The Kalavryta ski resort is one of the highest centres in Greece with one of the biggest verticals. Ski hire, overnight accommodation and delicious food are all available by the slopes. The Kalavryta ski resort is situated on the north-western side of the mountain Helmos at an altitude of 1.700 meters (base) to 2.340 meters (summit).

It has been operating since 1988 and consists of seven lifts, 12 ski runs, cafeteria, spacious free parking, restaurant, ski school, ski rental shop, and First Aid Station.

It is located 14 kilometres from Kalavrita and only 203 kilometres from the city of Athens. The ski centre is open daily throughout the ski season (December to April) from 09:00 to 16:00.

The Greek ski resort of Kalávrita has direct access to 11 individual ski slopes which are served by 7 ski lifts.

Falakro

The Falakro Ski Centre was founded in 1980 on the initiative of the Alpine Club of Drama, to help meeting the basic needs of leisure and sports of the local residents. However, over the years, the Ski Center acquired its own momentum and a fanatic public that turned it into one of the most important ski centres in the country and a major tourist centre of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

The alpine landscape of Falakro is offered for many other activities such as a simple ride as the place combines wonderful views in all directions: the lake of the river Nestos and the Bulgarian borders, the magnificent gorge of the Pirgi, the plain of Drama, the Pangaeum, Thassos, Athos, the Aegean, and even Olympus in a day with good weather and clear atmosphere.

The Greek ski resort of Falakro offers direct access to 21 individual ski slopes which are served by 7 ski lifts.

Pelion

The location of the resort is at an altitude of 1470m and is called Wild Poplars (Agrioleukes) thanks to the poplar forest that surrounds it. Pelion is also a large “balcony” overlooking the Aegean Sea. It must be the only ski resort in the world that is situated near the sea. One of the major strengths of Pelion is the very successful night skiing events held every Saturday night. Indeed, the Pelion ski centre was the first ski resorts that established the night skiing in our country. It hosts 7 ski slopes.

Pertouli

The ski centre of Pertouli is not popular for its size. But this did not prevent it becoming very popular because it is easily accessible,” friendly” to experienced and novice skiers and is located in a beautiful location in the meadows of Pertouli, among the fir tree forests.

On weekends gets too crowded, but there is no difficult to access to it, as the road is very wide and the parking is convenient. The resort has two chalets and is situated between the two most tourist towns, Elati and Pertouli. If you are lucky and find yourself one of the evenings organized night skiing with crowds and happenings will live a unique experience. Those who are not lovers of skiing; they can rent sleds and indulge in descents on the opposite sides of the Pertouli meadows. The altitude of the resort is 1170-1370m.
