Athens, Acropolis and Parthenon

Athens is one of the most ancient cities of the world and the capital of Greece. It’s the political, financial and cultural centre of the country. Every year millions of tourists visit Athens, the worldwide famous Acropolis and the temple of Parthenon. It is maybe the unique city you can do everything. It’s an interesting modern city that you can live everything in it. You can explore archaeological and historical places and travel back in time, you can do sunbathing on the beautiful beaches just a few kilometres away, you can have fun, enjoy the exciting nightlife and meet new people. However, the place which attracts the interest and the admiration of the visitors is doubtless, the Parthenon. The temple of the Parthenon was built on the hill of Acropolis of Athens and is the best known tourist attraction in Greece. It’s almost impossible someone to come to Athens and not visit the Parthenon. It began to be built in 447BC and finished in 432BC essentially to replace the sacred temple of Athena, the Olympian goddess and protector of Athens, which was destroyed by the Persians. Right below the Parthenon is the new and modern National Archaeological Museum where every one of us can explore and live throughout the history of the ancient Greek civilization.

Santorini, the most beautiful sunset

Many believe that Santorini is the lost Atlantis. It’s an extremely beautiful island in which prevails its majestic volcano. Santorini was voted as the world’s best island for the year 2011 but also the ‘’Travel&Leisure’’ readers voted Santorini as the 3rd most romantic island worldwide. The totally white small houses with the blue coloured roofs and shutters, climbed on the rocky hillsides of the island and around the deep blue cloak of the sea, give to the place a unique and special beauty you cannot meet anywhere else. The capital of the island, Fira has a nice combination of Cycladic and Venetian architecture and tight cobblestones full of little stores, restaurants and cafes which attract the visitors. However, the most of the people who visit Santorini want to see its breath-taking sunset. Oia is the area which overflows with people every afternoon. All of them wait to admire the sunset, climb even to the most incredible places just to see this unique sight and burst into applause when the sun goes down. The gorgeous colour combinations as the sun sinks into the deep blue waters of the Aegean Sea create a romantic picture which moves deeply ever visitor.

The benchmark of the island is the old medieval style town as well as the medieval settlement of Lindos. All these come with the crystal blue waters, the amazing sandy beaches where someone can mix the peace and the active entertainment. During the night, in the old town you can see people from every point of the world to have fun together in the bars which play every kind of music from Greek to international, Latin, jazz and house. Also, many stay awake until the morning or just wake up early the morning to admire the most beautiful sunrise from the beach of Enydrio. The most famous site of Rhodes is the palace of the Grand Master of the Knights. The impressive building was founded in the 7th century AC and in 1309 the Knights Hospitaller (or the Knights of Saint John) rebuilt it to host their Grand Masters. Rhodes is a full of life, active island and a top Greek destination much loved by thousands of people.
